DTC P0617: Starter Relay Circuit High: Procedure
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (STARTER RELAY)
- Connect to the Techstream the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active test / Activate the Starter Relay.
- Enter the following monitors: Starter Signal.
- Read the value displayed on the Techstream when the ignition switch is turned to the ON and START positions.

- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (STARTER SIGNAL)
- Inspect the Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch (for automatic transaxle).

- Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Starter Signal.
- Read the value displayed on the Techstream when the ignition switch is turned to ON.RESULT
Starter Signal Proceed to ON A OFF B - Reconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
- Inspect the clutch start switch circuit (for manual transaxle).

- Disconnect the clutch start switch connector.
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Starter Signal.
- Read the value displayed on the Techstream when the ignition switch is turned to ON.RESULT
Starter Signal Proceed to ON A OFF B - Reconnect the clutch start switch connector.

- Inspect the Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch (for automatic transaxle).
- INSPECT ECM (STA TERMINAL VOLTAGE)
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Disconnect the clutch start switch or Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Result
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition Proceed to A21-48 (STA) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V A Below 1.5 V B - Reconnect the clutch start switch or park/neutral position switch connector.
- Reconnect the ECM connector.

- INSPECT CLUTCH START SWITCH OR PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH

- Inspect the clutch start switch circuit (for manual transaxle).
- Disconnect the clutch start switch connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 OFF (free) 10 kΩ or higher - Reconnect the clutch start switch connector.RESULT

- Inspect the Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch (for automatic transaxle).
- Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance

- Disconnect the ignition switch connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 4 (AM1) - 7 (ST2) ON position 10 kΩ or higher 5 (AM2) - 7 (ST2) - Reconnect the ignition switch connector.
NG → See step 7
OK → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (IGNITION SWITCH - CLUTCH START SWITCH OR PNP SWITCH - ECM)
- REPLACE ECM. Refer to REMOVAL
- REPLACE IGNITION SWITCH. Refer to REMOVAL
- REPLACE CLUTCH START SWITCH AND GO TO STEP 5 (for Manual Transaxle). Refer to REMOVAL
- REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH AND GO TO STEP 5 (for Automatic Transaxle). Refer to REMOVAL
- CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
- REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH (for Automatic Transaxle). Refer to REMOVAL
