Ignition Timing
- Check or adjust ignition timing with engine at normal operating temperature. Distributor vacuum hoses disconnected and plugged. Transmission in Neutral (man. trans.) or in "P" or "N" auto. trans.). Lights off. Run engine at idle speed.
- On Turbo vehicles, disconnect Black connector (2-pole connector) between distributor and knock control unit.
- On all vehicles, connect timing light to No. 1 cylinder spark plug and check timing. See Fig 1 . If timing is incorrect, loosen distributor mounting bolt and adjust timing. Tighten distributor mounting bolt and recheck timing.
NOTE:
Ignition timing marks on non-Turbo models are visible through opening in flywheel cover on right side of engine. Ignition timing marks on Turbo models are located on lower left front of engine.
