Thermo Vacuum Valve I

  1. Remove the Thermo Vacuum Valve I from intake manifold. Connect hoses to the output ports for air cleaner and EGR valve (2 upper ports) and plug output port for distributor (1 lower port). See Figure . Submerge valve in container of water.
    CAUTION: Do not allow water to enter valve.
  2. With water temperature below 86°F (30°C), blow air through valve. If air does not pass freely, replace valve. Heat water above 104°F (40°C). No air should pass. If air passes through valve, replace valve.
  3. Detach and reconnect hoses to output ports for distributor and EGR valve. Plug output port to the air cleaner. With water temperature at 68°F (20°C), blow air into unit to ensure valve is completely open. With water temperature at 50°F (10°C), ensure valve is completely closed.
