Rack Housing: Reassembly

1. Attach rack housing to Stand (926200000 ). Apply grease to rack housing needle bearing. Attach oil seal to Installer (926240000 ). Insert installer with oil seal into rack housing from gear side. Install oil seal near piston. Install back up ring to rack housing from gear side. Ensure ring is installed in proper direction.
2. Apply grease to rack teeth grooves, sleeve sliding portion and piston sealing surface. Do not allow grease to enter vent hole in rack. Insert rack assembly into cylinder side of rack housing. Attach Guide (926250000 ) to exposed end of rack shaft.
3. Apply grease to rack shaft and guide. Apply grease to inner surface of holder assembly and "O" ring. Insert onto rack shaft. Attach holder assembly to rack housing. Be careful not to damage "Y" packing when installing holder assembly.
4. Apply grease to snap ring and install into groove to secure holder assembly. Attach Installer (926320000 ) to cylinder side of rack housing. Drive back up ring and oil seal into place.

Apply Dexron ATF to new oil seal. Using Installer (926380000 ), push in back-up washer and oil seal. Do not scratch cylinder inner wall. Ensure washer and oil seal are installed in the proper direction.
