Cruise Control Systems: Description
Vehicle speed is recorded by a micro-computer and compared to actual road speed as indicated by speedometer. Vacuum is metered to an actuator which controls throttle position.
The Coupe XT and XT-6 models actuator is mounted in the engine compartment and activates the throttle with a link assembly. All other models have the actuator mounted on the pedal support bracket. Switches mounted on clutch (if equipped) and brake pedals are also used to cancel operation of the cruise control system.
NOTE:
Cruise control will not operate below 25 MPH.
