No-Load Test
- Low rotating speed or excessive current draw during no-load test may be caused by high rotating resistance because of improper assembly. Low current draw and no torque during stall test may be caused by excessive resistance between brushes and commutator.
- Normal current and low torque may be caused by a shorted commutator or poor insulation. Remove starter. Connect ammeter in series with starter motor and 12-volt battery. See Fig 1.
