Code 31: Throttle Sensor: Legacy
- Measure signal voltage input of TCU. Turn ignition on with engine not running. Measure signal voltage input emitted from throttle sensor with accelerator pedal fully depressed (WOT). Measure voltage between pin No. 8 and No. 7 of connector B44. DO NOT disconnect connector.
- Voltage should be 4.4-4.8 volts with throttle fully closed. At WOT, voltage should be .7-1.7 volts. If voltage is not within specification, replace TCU and retest.
- Check harness/connector between TCU and throttle sensor. Disconnect connector from TCU. Disconnect connector from throttle sensor. Measure resistance between TCU (B44) and throttle sensor connector. See Figure .
- Resistance between pin No. 7 of connector B44 and pin No. 2 (Black wire) of sensor connector should be zero ohms. Resistance between pin No. 8 of TCU connector B44 and pin No. 4 (White wire) of sensor connector should be zero ohms. Resistance between pins No. 7 and 8 of TCU connector B44 and vehicle body should be 100 k/ohms minimum for both circuits. If any measured resistances are not within specification, inspect and repair circuit(s) as needed. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Check throttle sensor. Disconnect connector from throttle sensor. Measure resistance between throttle sensor terminals. Resistance between pins No. 2 (Black wire) and 4 (White wire) should be 1 k/ohms with throttle fully closed. Resistance should be 4.3 k/ohms with throttle fully open (WOT). Replace sensor as needed.
