Test 1: Open Or Short Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit

  1. Turn ignition off. Depending on specific trouble code, disconnect appropriate ABS wheel sensor connector. Measure resistance between wheel sensor terminals. If resistance is 800-1200 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 800-1200 ohms, replace wheel sensor.
  2. Measure resistance between ground and each terminal of wheel sensor. If both resistance readings are infinite, go to next step. If either reading in not infinite, replace wheel sensor.
  3. Reconnect wheel sensor connector. Disconnect ABS/TCS control unit connectors. Measure resistance between ABS control unit harness connector terminals. See CHECKING WHEEL SENSOR CIRCUITS table. See Figure . If resistance is 800-1200 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 800-1200 6ohms, repair wiring harness between wheel sensor and ABS/TCS control unit.

    23 (2) 1 & 11
    25 (2) 2 & 12
    27 (1) 7 & 15
    (1) Terminals are located in ABS/TCS control unit 16-pin harness connector.
    (2) Terminals are located in ABS/TCS control unit 20-pin harness connector.
  4. Measure resistance between ground and ABS/TCS control unit connector as specified. See CHECKING WHEEL SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR SHORT TO GROUND table. If resistance is infinite, replace ABS/TCS control unit. If resistance is not infinite, repair short to ground in wiring harness as necessary.
