Clutch Assembly: Installation

  1. Install clutch release lever and release bearing holder. Lubricate inner groove of release bearing holder, transaxle mainshaft spline and contact surfaces of release lever with a light coat of molybdenum disulfide grease.
  2. If installing NEW pilot bearing, press bearing into flywheel until bearing surface is flush with clutch disc side of flywheel. Tighten flywheel bolts in sequence. See Fig 1 . Use clutch alignment tool to position clutch disc against flywheel. Position pressure plate against disc. Ensure "O" marks located on flywheel and pressure plate are 120 degrees or more apart from each other. See Fig 2 . Tighten pressure plate bolts in sequence. See Fig 2 . Install transaxle in vehicle.
  3. Ensure NEW roll pins are installed in axle shafts. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Adjust clutch pedal and release fork. See CLUTCH PEDAL FREE PLAY  , CLUTCH PEDAL HEIGHT  and CLUTCH RELEASE FORK FREE PLAY  under ADJUSTMENTS.
