Test 12: Stop Light Switch Problem

  1. Press brake pedal. If stoplights illuminate, go to next step. If stoplights do not illuminate, repair stop light circuit.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS control module connector. Press brake pedal. Check voltage at ABS control module connector terminal No. 36. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair wiring.
  3. Turn ignition off. Check stop light switch and ABS control module connector contacts. Repair contacts as needed. Go to next step.
  4. Reconnect all connectors. Erase memory. Recheck trouble codes. If same trouble code returns, replace ABS control unit. If other trouble codes exist, go to proper test procedure. If no trouble codes exist, problem was a temporary poor contact. Recheck harness and connectors.
