Abs Warning Light Stays On
NOTE:
When ABSCM/HU connector is disconnected, connector switch closes circuit between terminals No. 21 and 23. ABS warning light will illuminate. See Figure
.
- Ensure ABSCM/HU connector is fully seated and locked in place. Repair as needed. Measure resistance between ground and each diagnostic terminal. See Figure . If resistance is less than .5 ohm, go to next step. If resistance is more than .5 ohm, repair diagnostic terminal wiring harness.
- Turn ignition off. Connect terminal No. 6 to a diagnostic terminal. Disconnect ABSCM/HU connector. Measure resistance between ground and ABSCM/HU connector terminal No. 4. If resistance is less than .5 ohm, go to next step. If resistance is more than .5 ohm, repair wiring harness between diagnostic connector and ABSCM/HU connector.
- Start engine. With engine idling, check voltage between ground and terminal "B" on back of generator (power terminal). If voltage is 10-15 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 10- 15 volts, repair generator and retest.
- Turn ignition off. Ensure battery terminal connections are clean and tight. Repair as needed, then go to next step.
- Start engine and let idle. Measure voltage between ground and ABSCM/HU connector terminal No. 1. If voltage is 10-15 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 10- 15 volts, repair power supply circuit.
- Disconnect bulkhead connector F2 from bulkhead connector B100, located at top left corner of dash. Turn ignition on. If ABS warning light does not illuminate, go to next step. If ABS warning light illuminates, repair wiring harness between ABS warning light and bulkhead connector B100.
- Turn ignition off. Check for broken terminals at ABSCM/HU. If terminals are okay, go to next step. If terminals are broken, replace ABSCM/HU.
- Measure resistance between ABSCM/HU terminals No. 21 and 23. If resistance is more than one megohm, go to next step. If resistance is less than one megohm, replace ABSCM/HU.
- Measure resistance between ground and appropriate terminal at bulkhead connector F2. See CONNECTOR F2 TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION table. If resistance is less than .5 ohm, go to next step. If resistance is more than .5 ohm, repair wiring harness.NOTE: Bulkhead connector F2 is a mirror image of bulkhead connector B100. For bulkhead connector B100 terminal locations, see Figure -8.CONNECTOR F2 TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION
Model No. Of Pins Terminal No. Forester 24 15 Impreza 16 8 Legacy 20 9 - Connect ABSCM/HU connector. Measure resistance between ground and appropriate terminal at bulkhead connector F2. See CONNECTOR F2 TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION table. If resistance is more than one megohm, go to next step. If resistance is less than one megohm, repair wiring harness.
- Check connector at ABSCM/HU for poor contact. If connector contacts are poor, repair connector as necessary. If contacts are okay, replace ABSCM/HU.
