Description & Operation
WARNING:
Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
Throttle plate position is controlled by an electronically operated actuator in engine compartment. Position of the actuator cable is controlled by commands from cruise control module. Cruise control module receives inputs from the following components:
- Main Switch (On Instrument Panel)
- Cruise Control Main Relay
- Vehicle Speed Sensor
- Cruise Control Command Switch
- Transmission Control Module (A/T)
- Brake/Stoplight Switch
- Inhibitor Switch (A/T)
- Clutch Switch (M/T)
The system is equipped with on-board diagnostics. Cruise cancel conditions and real-time diagnosis can be performed using Subaru Select Monitor (24082AA130). A Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is set when a cruise control related problem arises. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM .
