NOTE:
Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . After repairs are complete, check AIR BAG warning light to verify system is functioning correctly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect connectors AB6, AB17 and AB18 at air bag control module. See Figure. If rust or damage to connectors is evident, replace air bag wiring harness and air bag control module and go to next step. See CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If connectors are properly connected, connect negative battery cable and turn ignition switch on. If AIR BAG waning light functions properly, go to next step. If air bag warning light does not function properly, replace air bag control module and go to next step. See CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition off and disconnect negative battery terminal. Reconnect system components and activate air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Clear air bag system codes. See CLEARING CODES under DIAGNOSTICS. Check for normal air bag system operation. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
