NOTE: Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . After repairs are complete, check AIR BAG warning light to verify system is functioning correctly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
  1. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Remove instrument panel lower cover and glove box. Disconnect lower clockspring connectors AB3 and AB8 and passenger-side air bag module connectors AB9 and AB10. See Figure. Disconnect air bag control module connector AB6. Connect connector AB6 to test harness "I2" (98299FC010), connector 1I. See Figure Measure resistance between test harness "I2", connector 3I, terminals No. 1 and 3. If resistance is not between 750-1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is between 750-1000 ohms, replace air bag control module and go to step  19. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "I2", connector 3I, terminal No. 1. If resistance is less than one megohm, go to next step. If resistance is more than one megohm, replace air bag control module and go to step  19. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "I2", connector 3I, terminal No. 3. If resistance is less than one megohm, go to next step. If resistance is more than one megohm, replace air bag control module and go to step  19. See CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Disconnect connector AB13 from left front sub sensor. See Figure. Connect connector AB13 to test harness "H" (98299FA030), connector 1H. See Figure. Measure resistance between test harness "I2", connector 3I, terminal No. 3 and test harness "H", connector 3H, terminal No. 5. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, go to step  8.
  5. Measure resistance between test harness "I2", connector 3I, terminal No. 1 and test harness "H", connector 3H, terminal No. 6. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, go to step  8.
  6. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "I2", connector 3I, terminal No. 3. If resistance is less than one megohm, go to next step. If resistance is more than one megohm, go to step  16.
  7. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "I2", connector 3I, terminal No. 1. If resistance is less than one megohm, go to next step. If resistance is more than one megohm, go to step  16.
  8. Disconnect connectors AB11 and AB12. See Figure. Connect connector AB11 to test harness "F" (98299FC010), connector 2F. See Figure. Measure resistance between test harness "I2", connector 3I, terminal No. 3 and test harness "F", connector 3F, terminal No. 6. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, replace air bag main wiring harness and go to step  19.
  9. Measure resistance between test harness "I2", connector 3I, terminal No. 1 and test harness "F", connector 3F, terminal No. 5. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, replace air bag main wiring harness and go to step  19.
  10. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "I2", connector 3I, terminal No. 3. If resistance is more than one megohm, go to next step. If resistance is less than one megohm, replace air bag main wiring harness and go to step  19.
  11. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "I2", connector 3I, terminal No. 1. If resistance is more than one megohm, go to next step. If resistance is less than one megohm, replace air bag main wiring harness and go to step  19.
  12. Connect connector AB12 to test harness "F", connector 1F. See Figure & Figure . Disconnect connector AB13 from left front sub sensor. Connect connector AB13 to test harness "H", connector 1H. See Figure. Measure resistance between test harness "H", connector 3H, terminal No. 5 and test harness "F", connector 3F, terminal No. 3. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, replace left front sub sensor harness and go to step  19.
  13. Measure resistance between test harness "H", connector 3H, terminal No. 6 and test harness "F", connector 3F, terminal No. 4. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, replace left front sub sensor harness and go to step  19.
  14. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "F", connector 3F, terminal No. 3. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace left front sub sensor harness and go to step  19.
  15. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "F", connector 3F, terminal No. 4. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace left front sub sensor harness and go to step  19.
  16. Connect left front sub sensor to test harness "H", connector 2H. Measure resistance between test harness "H", connector 3H, terminals No. 3 and 4. If resistance is between 750-1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not between 750-1000 ohms, replace left front sub sensor and go to step  19.
  17. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "H", connector 3H, terminal No. 3. If resistance is more than one megohm, go to next step. If resistance is less than one megohm, replace left front sub sensor and go to step  19.
  18. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "H", connector 3H, terminal No. 4. If resistance is more than one megohm, go to next step. If resistance is less than one megohm, replace left front sub sensor and go to next step.
  19. Turn ignition off and disconnect negative battery terminal. Reconnect system components and activate air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Clear air bag system codes. See CLEARING CODES  under DIAGNOSTICS. Check for normal air bag system operation. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
