    1. Turn ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect connector from inhibitor switch.
    3. Measure resistance of harness between inhibitor switch and chassis ground.

    CHECK: Is the resistance less than 1 ohm? 

    1. YES:  Go to step 9T16. 
    2. NO:  Repair open circuit in harness between inhibitor switch harness.
  16. 9T16: CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR BETWEEN TCM AND INHIBITOR SWITCH. 
    1. Turn ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect connector from inhibitor switch.
    3. Measure resistance of harness between TCM and inhibitor switch connector.

    2. NO:  Repair open circuit in harness between TCM and inhibitor switch connector, and poor contact in coupling connector.

  52. 9T52: CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR BETWEEN TCM AND INHIBITOR SWITCH. 
    1. Turn ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect connector from inhibitor switch.
    3. Measure resistance of harness between TCM and inhibitor switch connector.

    CHECK: Is the resistance less than 1 ohm? 

    1. YES:  Go to step 9T53. 
    2. NO:  Repair open circuit in harness between TCM and inhibitor switch connector, and poor contact in coupling connector.
  53. 9T53: CHECK INHIBITOR SWITCH. 

    Measure resistance between inhibitor switch connector receptacle's terminals.

    CHECK: Is the resistance less than 1 ohm in "1" range? 

    1. YES:  Go to step 9T54. 
    2. NO:  Adjust inhibitor switch and select cable. See INHIBITOR SWITCH and SELECT CABLE .
  54. 9T54: CHECK INPUT SIGNAL FOR TCM. 
    1. Turn ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Connect connector to inhibitor switch.
    3. Turn ignition switch to ON.
    4. Measure voltage between TCM and chassis ground.

    CHECK: Is the voltage less than 1 V in "1" range? 

    1. YES:  Go to step 9T55. 
    2. NO:  Go to step  9T58 .
  55. 9T55: CHECK INPUT SIGNAL FOR TCM. 

    Measure voltage between TCM and chassis ground.

    CHECK: Is the voltage more than 9.5 V in other ranges? 

    1. YES:  Go to step  9T58 .
    2. NO:  Replace TCM, see TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) .
  56. 9T56: CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR BETWEEN TCM AND INHIBITOR SWITCH. 
    1. Turn ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect connector from inhibitor switch.
    3. Measure resistance of harness between TCM and chassis ground.

    CHECK: Is the resistance more than 1 Mohm? 

    1. YES:  Go to step 9T57. 
    2. NO:  Repair ground short circuit in "1" range circuit.
  57. 9T57: CHECK INHIBITOR SWITCH. 

    Measure resistance between inhibitor switch connector receptacle's terminals.

    CHECK: Is the resistance more than 1 Mohm in other ranges? 

    1. YES:  Replace TCM, see TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) .
    2. NO:  Adjust inhibitor switch and select cable. See INHIBITOR SWITCH and SELECT CABLE .
  58. 9T58: CHECK POOR CONTACT. 

    CHECK: Is there poor contact in inhibitor switch circuit? 

    1. YES:  Repair poor contact.
    2. NO:  Replace TCM, see TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) .
