Rear Suspension: Overhaul: Knuckle/Hub: Reassembly

CAUTION: Ensure hub bolt closely contacts hub. Use a .47" (12 mm) hole in the hub stand to prevent hub bolt from tilting during installation.
  1. Using hub stand, press new hub bolt into place. See Fig 1 .
    CAUTION: Ensure tone wheel closely contacts hub. Be careful not to damage tone wheel teeth.
  2. Remove foreign particles (dust, rust, etc.) from mating surfaces of hub and tone wheel, and install tone wheel to hub. See Fig 2 .
  3. Clean housing interior completely. Using housing stand and bearing remover, press bearing into housing. See Fig 3 .
  4. Install snap ring. See Fig 4 .
  5. Using housing stand and oil seal installer, press outer oil seal until it comes in contact with snap ring. See Fig 5 .
  6. Invert both housing stand.
  7. Using oil seal installer, press inner oil seal into housing until it touches bottom. See Fig 6 .
  8. Using housing stand and oil seal installer, press sub seal into place. See Fig 6 .
    CAUTION: If specified grease is not available, remove bearing grease and apply Auto Rex A instead. DO NOT mix different types of grease
  9. Apply sufficient grease to oil seal lip.
    1. Specified grease: SHELL 6459N
  10. Install back plate to rear housing.
  11. Using hub stand and hub installer, press bearing into hub. See Fig 7 .
