NOTE: Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . After repairs are complete, activate air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  1. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect connector AB21 from left seat belt pretensioner. See SEAT BELT PRETENSIONERS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect left side air bag module connectors AB19 and AB20 located under seat. See Figure. Connect connector AB19 to test harness "F" (98299FC010), connector 1F. See Figure. Connect air bag resistor to test harness "F", connector 3F. Connect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on. If AIR BAG warning operates properly, replace front seat with side air bag module. See FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If AIR BAG warning does not operate properly, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Wait at least 20 seconds. Disconnect air bag resistor from test harness "F". Disconnect air bag control module connector AB17. See AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect connector AB17 to test harness "I" (98299FC040) or I2 (98299FC041), connector 1I. See Figure or Figure . Connect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 10. Measure voltage between ground and test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 12. If voltage is less than one volt, replace air bag control module. If voltage is more than one volt, replace body harness with side air bag harness.
