Code 52

NOTE: Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . After repairs are complete, activate air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  1. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect connector AB21 from left seat belt pretensioner. See SEAT BELT PRETENSIONERS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect left side air bag module connectors AB19 and AB20 located under seat. See Figure. Disconnect air bag control module connector AB17. See AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect connector AB17 to test harness "I" (98299FC040) or I2 (98299FC041), connector 1I. See Figure or Figure . Disconnect left side air bag sensor connector AB23. See SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect connector AB23 to test harness "G" (98299FC020), connector 1G. See Figure. Measure resistance between test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 5 and test harness "G", connector, 3G, terminal No. 4. Measure resistance between test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 14 and test harness "G", connector, 3G, terminal No. 5. Measure resistance between test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 15 and test harness "G", connector, 3G, terminal No. 1. Measure resistance between test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 16 and test harness "G", connector, 3G, terminal No. 2. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, replace body harness with side air bag harness.
  2. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 5. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 14. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 15. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "I" or I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 16. If resistance is more than one megohm, replace side air bag sensor. If problem persists, replace air bag control module. If resistance is less than one megohm, replace body harness with side air bag harness.
