Compulsory Valve Operation Check Mode

CAUTION: Do not connect scan tools except for Subaru Select Monitor and OBD-II general scan tool.
  1. Prepare the Subaru Select Monitor (SSM) kit. Connect the diagnosis cable the SSM and insert the cartridge into the SSM.
  2. Connect the Test Mode Connector at the lower portion of the instrument panel (driver's side) to the side of the center console box.
  3. Connect the SSM to the Data Link Connector (DLC) located in the lower portion of the instrument panel (on the driver's side). Connect the diagnosis cable to the data link connector.
  4. Turn ignition ON, with engine OFF. Turn SSM ON.
  5. On the MAIN MENU display screen, select the 2. EACH SYSTEM CHECK and press YES.
  6. On the SYSTEM SELECT MENU display screen, select ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM and press YES.
  7. Press the YES key after displayed the information of engine type.
  8. On the ENGINE DIAGNOSIS display screen, select SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK MODE and press YES.
  9. On the SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK MODE display screen, select the ACTUATOR ON/OFF OPERATION and press the YES key.
  10. Select the desired compulsory actuator on the ACTUATOR ON/OFF OPERATION display screen, and press the YES key.
  11. Pressing the NO key completes the Compulsory Operation Check Mode. The display will then return to the ACTUATOR ON/OFF OPERATION screen.
