2-4 Brake: Removal

- Remove the transmission assembly from the vehicle. See REMOVAL , Automatic Transmission Assembly.
- Extract the torque converter clutch assembly. See REMOVAL , Torque Converter Clutch Assembly.
- Remove the input shaft.
- Disconnect the air breather hose. See REMOVAL , Air Breather Hose.
- Lift-up lever behind the transmission harness connector and disconnect it from stay.
- Disconnect inhibitor switch connector from stay.
- Remove the oil charger pipe. See REMOVAL , Oil Charger Pipe.
- Remove the oil cooler inlet and outlet pipes with washers. See REMOVAL , ATF Cooler Pipe and Hose.
- Remove rear vehicle speed sensor, and separate the extension case from transmission case. See REMOVAL , Extension Case.
- Remove the reduction drive gear (MPT model). See REMOVAL , Reduction Drive Gear.
- Remove the center differential carrier (VTD model). See REMOVAL , Center Differential Carrier.
- Remove the reduction driven gear. See REMOVAL , Reduction Driven Gear.
- Separate torque converter clutch case and transmission case. See REMOVAL , Torque Converter Clutch Case.
- Remove the oil pan and control valve body. See REMOVAL , Control Valve Body, Control Valve Body.
- Remove the oil pump housing. See REMOVAL , Oil Pump.
- Remove 2-4 brake seal.
- Take out the high clutch and reverse clutch assembly. See REMOVAL , High Clutch and Reverse Clutch.
- Take out the thrust needle bearing, planetary gear assembly and the low clutch assembly. See REMOVAL , Planetary Gear and Low Clutch.
- Remove snap ring.
- Take out 2-4 brake return spring.
- Remove the 2-4 brake piston and piston retainer without damaging.
- Separate 2-4 brake piston and piston retainer.
