Oil Pump Housing: Removal

  1. Remove the transmission assembly from the vehicle. Refer to REMOVAL .
  2. Extract the torque converter clutch assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the input shaft.

  4. Lift-up the lever behind the transmission harness connector and disconnect it from stay.
  5. Disconnect the inhibitor switch connector from stay.
  6. Remove the oil charger pipe. Refer to REMOVAL .
  7. Remove the oil cooler inlet and outlet pipes. Refer to REMOVAL .
  8. Separate the torque converter clutch case and transmission case sections. Refer to REMOVAL .
  9. Separate the transmission case and extension case sections. Refer to REMOVAL .
  10. Remove the reduction drive gear. (MPT model) Refer to REMOVAL .
  11. Remove the center differential carrier. (VTD model) Refer to REMOVAL .
  12. Remove the reduction driven gear. Refer to REMOVAL .
  13. Loosen the oil pump housing mounting bolts.

  14. Place two wooden blocks on the workbench, and stand the transmission case with its rear end placing down.
    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to scratch the rear mating surface of the transmission case.
    • Note that the parking rod and drive pinion protrude from the mating surface.

  15. Remove the oil pump housing and adjusting thrust washer.
