Check Engine Control Module (ECM)

ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) CHECK

Step Check Yes No
1 CHECK ECM SIGNAL. 
  1. Start the engine.
  2. Measure the voltage between ECM connector and engine ground.

Connector & terminal 
Non-turbo model: 
(B134) No. 10 (+) - Chassis ground (-): 
Turbo model: 
(B137) No. 9 (+) - Chassis ground (-): 
STI model: 
(B134) No. 23 (+) - Chassis ground (-): 		 Is the voltage 0 <-- --> 14 V or more? Go to step 2  . Check the ECM. < Ref. to BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE , (H4SO). > or < Ref. to BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE , (H4DOTC). > or < Ref. to BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE , (STi). >
2 CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN COMBINATION METER AND ECM. 
  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the connector from ECM and combination meter.
  3. Measure the resistance between ECM harness connector and combination meter harness connector.

Non-turbo model: 
(B134) No. 10 - (i11) No. 5: 
Turbo model: 
(B137) No. 9 - (i11) No. 5: 
STi model: 
(B134) No. 23 - (i11) No. 5: 		 Is the resistance less than 10 ohm? Except STi model: Check the tachometer. < Ref. to REMOVAL , Tachometer. > STi model: Replace the meter main assembly. Repair the wiring harness.
