Front Crossmember: Removal
- Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
- Lift-up the vehicle, and then remove the front wheels.
- Remove the sub frame.
- Remove both the stabilizer and jack-up plate.
- Disconnect the tie-rod end from housing.
- Remove the front exhaust pipe.
- Remove the front transverse link from front crossmember and body.
- Remove the bolts attaching engine mount cushion rubber to crossmember.
- Remove the steering universal joint.
- Disconnect the power steering pipe from steering gear box.
- Lift the engine by approx. 10 mm (0.39 in) by using chain block.
- Support the crossmember with a jack, remove nuts securing crossmember to body and lower the crossmember gradually along with steering gearbox.CAUTION: When removing the crossmember downward, be careful that tie-rod end does not interfere with SFJ boot.
