Basic Diagnostic Procedure: Procedure

NOTE:
  • To check harness for broken wires or short circuits, shake it while holding it or the connector.
  • Check List for Interview < Ref. to CHECK LIST FOR INTERVIEW . >
INTERVIEW LIST

1 PERFORM THE PRE-INSPECTION. 
  1. Ask the customer when and how the trouble occurred using the interview check list. < Ref. to CHECK LIST FOR INTERVIEW . >
  2. Before performing diagnosis, inspect the unit which might influence the VDC problem. < Ref. to INSPECTION , General Description .>
Is the component that might influence the VDC problem working properly? Go to step 2.  Repair or replace each component.
2 CHECK INDICATION OF DTC ON SCREEN. 
  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Connect the Subaru Select Monitor to the data link connector.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON and run the Subaru Select Monitor.
  4. Read the DTC. < Ref. to OPERATION , Read Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) .>
  5. Record all DTCs and freeze frame data.
Is DTC displayed? Go to step 4.  Go to step 3. 
3 PERFORM GENERAL DIAGNOSTICS. 
  1. Perform the inspection by referring to "General Diagnostic Table". < Ref. to INSPECTION , General Diagnostic Table.>
  2. Perform Clear Memory Mode. < Ref. to OPERATION , Clear Memory Mode.>
  3. Perform Inspection Mode. < Ref. to OPERATION , Inspection Mode.>
  4. Read the DTC. < Ref. to OPERATION , Read Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC).>
  5. Check the DTC is not displayed.
Is the warning light pattern normal? < Ref. to WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATION PATTERN . > Finish the diagnosis. Check the warning light. Refer to "List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)" for the contents of the diagnosis. < Ref. to LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . >
4 PERFORM DIAGNOSIS. 
  1. Inspect using the "Diagnostic Procedure with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". < Ref. to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . >
    NOTE: Refer to "List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)" for the DTC list. < Ref. to LIST , List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC).>
  2. Correct the cause of trouble.
  3. Perform Clear Memory Mode. < Ref. to OPERATION , Clear Memory Mode.>
  4. Perform Inspection Mode. < Ref. to OPERATION , Inspection Mode.>
  5. Read the DTC. < Ref. to READ DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE , OPERATION, Subaru Select Monitor. >
Is DTC displayed? Inspect using the "Diagnostic Procedure with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". < Ref. to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . > Finish the diagnosis.
