Basic Diagnostic Procedure: Procedure
CAUTION:
When removing or installing, remove all foreign matter (dust, water, and oil) from the parking brake control module connectors.
NOTE:
- To check the harness for open or short circuits, shake problem spot or connector.
- Refer to "Check List for Interview". Refer to , CHECK LIST FOR INTERVIEW .

1 CHECK PRE-INSPECTION

Is the component that might influence the parking brake system problem normal? | Go to step 2 . | Repair or replace each component. |
2 CHECK INDICATION OF DTC.

Is DTC displayed on Subaru Select Monitor? | Record the DTC. Go to step 4 . | Go to step 3 . |
3 PERFORM GENERAL DIAGNOSTICS.

After starting the engine, do the electronic parking brake warning light (C6 model only), hill hold indicator light and brake warning light go off with the parking brake released? | Finish the diagnosis. | Check the combination meter circuit. Refer to , ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHT AND HILL HOLD INDICATOR LIGHT DO NOT GO OFF , Warning Light Illumination Pattern. | 4 CHECK FREEZE FRAME DATA. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the freeze frame data for the parking brake control module. |
Are freeze frame data recorded? Record the freeze frame data. | Go to step 5 . | Go to step 5 . |
5 PERFORM DIAGNOSIS.
