APPLICABILITY

All Models with TR 580 and TH58A CVT Transmissions

INTRODUCTION

This Service Information bulletin announces a design change to the service plugs used in some places on TR580 (and TH58A used in hybrid vehicles only) CVT transmissions. A new plug with a longer (14.7mm vs. 10mm on the old style) threaded portion is now available which further distributes the forces applied to the threads and decreases the possibility of damage to the transmission case and converter housing.

PRODUCTION CHANGE INFORMATION

Vehicles produced after March 1, 2015 have the new, longer service plugs installed.

PART INFORMATION

The part number for the new, longer service plug is 807018070  .

SERVICE PROCEDURE / INFORMATION

NOTE:
  • New and remanufactured CVT assemblies are shipped "dry" (some residual fluid from testing may remain). These service plugs are installed but only partially tightened during assembly. When removing these plugs to fill a new or remanufactured unit, if the old style, 10mm thread length type are found, always replace them with the new-style 14.7mm thread length part.
  • Always use the torque specifications for these plugs as supplied in the applicable Service Manual.
