Inspection steps

CAUTION: Before performing troubleshooting, check the fuse for this circuit.
  1. Check wiring harness and connector (engine control computer - battery)
CAUTION: After turning the ignition switch to OFF, you may have to wait for a while before disconnecting the battery terminals. Check appropriate precautions for battery terminal disconnection before proceeding. (refer to WORKING PRECAUTIONS AND NOTES )
NOTE: For the inspection procedure and precautions for wiring harnesses and connectors, refer to INSPECTION PROCEDURES FOR ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS AND HOW TO PERFORM .
    1. Disconnect the battery ground terminal. (refer to REMOVAL )
    2. Disconnect the positive terminal from the battery.
    3. Disconnect the connector for the engine control computer.
    4. Measure the resistance between the terminals. (Refer to ECM TERMINAL ARRANGEMENT for the terminal arrangement)

NG: Repair or replacement of wiring harness or connector

      OK: Go to next step

  2. Charging system check
    1. Perform on-board inspection on the battery and the charging system. (refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )

NG: Repair or replacement of problem area

      OK: Go to next step

  3. Clear DTC
    1. Connect the SSM3 to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn on the SSM3.
    4. Follow the SSM3 on-screen instructions to clear the DTCs. (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DTC )
    5. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, and wait for 30 seconds.

      Next

  4. Perform test drive for operation check
    1. Perform test drive. (Refer to "TEST DRIVE " under "Description of functions")
    2. Follow the SSM3 on-screen instructions to check the DTC. (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DTC )
