Inspection steps

NOTE: Read the freeze frame data using the SSM3. A part of the engine running conditions under which the engine trouble occurred is recorded in the freeze frame data, which is useful for troubleshooting.
  1. Read DTC
    1. Connect the SSM3 to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn on the SSM3.
    4. Perform test drive. (refer to "TEST DRIVE " under "Description of functions")
      WARNING: When performing this driving test, always observe the applicable traffic laws such as the speed limit.
    5. Follow the SSM3 on-screen instructions to check the DTC. (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DTC )

      Result

      Result Go to
      P0125 is output A
      DTCs other than P0125 are output B
      NOTE: If any DTCs other than P0125 are output, troubleshoot them first.

      B: To corresponding DTC chart (refer to DTC TABLE )

      A: Go to next step

  2. Thermostat unit inspection
    1. Perform unit inspection of the thermostat. (refer to INSPECTION )

      NG: Thermostat replacement (refer to INSPECTION )

      OK: Go to next step

  3. Cooling system check
    1. Check the cooling system for a malfunction that causes excessive cooling of the system including radiator fan operation fault and other problems.

      NG: Repair or replacement of cooling system

      OK: Replacement of the E.F.I. water temperature sensor (Refer to ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (FA20) )
