Rocker Cover LH
When replacing a single part, perform the work with the engine assembly installed to body.
- When working on the vehicleNOTE:
When working on the vehicle, perform the following steps also.
- Remove the striker assembly front hood. Ref. to EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>FRONT HOOD>DISASSEMBLYNOTE:
This procedure is necessary to prevent the lifting device and the striker assembly front hood from contacting with each other and causing damage. However, the procedure may be omitted if it is assured that the lifting device to be used will not make a contact.
- Fully open the panel COMPL front hood. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>FRONT HOOD GAS STAY
- Remove the V-belt covers.
- Remove the air intake duct. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DOTC)>AIR INTAKE DUCT>REMOVAL
- Remove the battery. Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DOTC)>BATTERY>REMOVAL
- Remove the connector (A) and connector (B) in numerical order shown in figure.
- Disconnect the connector (C), and remove the engine wiring harness from the clip (D).
- Remove the claw (A) securing the battery cable assembly to the bracket, and place it aside so that it does not interfere with work.
- Release the claw (B) securing the engine wiring harness to the bracket, and place it aside so that it does not interfere with work.
- Remove the bracket.
- Remove the center exhaust pipe. Ref. to EXHAUST (H4DOTC)>CENTER EXHAUST PIPE>REMOVAL
- Remove the nuts which secure the engine mounting to the crossmember COMPL front.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the pitching stopper.
CVT model:
Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR690)>TRANSMISSION MOUNTING SYSTEM>REMOVAL>PITCHING STOPPER
MT model:
Ref. to MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND DIFFERENTIAL (TY75)>TRANSMISSION MOUNTING SYSTEM>REMOVAL>PITCHING STOPPER
- Using the ST1, install the ST2 to the engine unit.
Preparation tool:
ST1: BOLT (18363AA050)
ST2: HANGER (18360AA040)
Tightening torque:
43 N.m (4.4 kgf-m, 31.7 ft-lb)
- Support the engine with a lifting device and wire ropes.
- While gradually lifting up the engine, set the ST between the engine mount LH and crossmember COMPL front, and then slowly lower the engine.CAUTION:
- When lifting up the engine, pay attention to the clearance of each part and be careful not to lift the engine too much, in order to prevent damaging the vehicle.
- To avoid damaging the ST, be sure to set the ST as shown in the figure.
- After lowering the engine, rock the engine to check that the ST does not come off.
Preparation tool:
ST: STAND ASSY (18632AA030)
- Remove the lifting device and wire ropes.
- Remove the striker assembly front hood. Ref. to EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>FRONT HOOD>DISASSEMBLY
- Remove the side engine oil cooler pipe. Ref. to LUBRICATION (H4DOTC)>ENGINE OIL COOLER>REMOVAL>SIDE ENGINE OIL COOLER PIPE
- Remove the #2 ignition coil and the #4 ignition coil. Ref. to IGNITION (H4DOTC)>IGNITION COIL>REMOVAL>LH SIDE
- Remove the connector from the water pipe LH.
- Remove the rocker cover LH.
- Remove the rocker cover gasket (ring type) and the spark plug pipe gasket, and remove the liquid gasket.CAUTION:
- When removing the liquid gasket from engine unit using scraper, use special care not to damage the cam lobe of camshaft LH.
- If the cam lobe of camshaft LH interferes, turn the crankshaft to the position where the scraper does not touch.
- Remove the rocker cover gasket LH from the rocker cover LH, and remove the liquid gasket.
