Turbo Model
- Remove the bracket - grille UPR, and the grille assembly - front CTR. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Front Grille>REMOVAL>FRONT GRILLE UPPER (TYPE A) .
- Using a marker pen, make alignment marks (A) on the hood COMPL - front and the striker - front hood.
- Remove the striker - front hood from the hood COMPL - front.
- Change the mounting position of the stay assembly - front hood from (A) to (B), and completely open the hood COMPL - front.
Tightening torque:
20 N.m (2.0 kgf-m, 14.8 ft-lb)
- Remove the collector cover.
- Remove the clip (A).
- Hold the shaded area (B) by hand and carefully pull the RH side (C) upward.
- Hold the shaded area (D) by hand and carefully pull the LH side (E) upward.
- Disconnect the ground cable from battery. Ref. to NOTE>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Remove the air intake duct (rear). Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DOTC)>Air Intake Duct>REMOVAL .
- Drain engine coolant. Ref. to COOLING (H4DOTC)>Engine Coolant>REPLACEMENT>DRAINING OF ENGINE COOLANT .
- Drain the engine oil. Ref. to LUBRICATION (H4DO)>Engine Oil>REPLACEMENT .
- Remove the front exhaust pipe. Ref. to EXHAUST (H4DOTC)>Front Exhaust Pipe>REMOVAL .
- Disconnect the oil level switch connector from the engine wiring harness, and remove the clip (A) securing the harness.
- Remove the nuts which secure the engine mounting to the front crossmember.
- Remove the electric power steering gearbox. Ref. to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>Electric Power Steering Gearbox>REMOVAL .
- Remove the front drive shaft LH. Ref. to DRIVE SHAFT SYSTEM>Front Drive Shaft>REMOVAL .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the intercooler. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DOTC)>INTERCOOLER>REMOVAL .
- Remove the pitching stopper.
- Remove the bolt securing the transmission harness stay to the CVT.NOTE: This procedure is required to prevent the transmission connector from touching the A/C pressure hose during engine lift-up.
- Lift up the engine with a lifting device and wire ropes.CAUTION: When lifting up the engine, pay attention to the clearance of each part and be careful not to lift the engine too much, in order to prevent damaging the vehicle.
- Remove the engine mounting LH from the engine.
- Remove clip (A) from the oil pan upper, and remove the oil level switch.
