Master Cylinder: Removal

CAUTION:
  • Be careful not to spill the brake fluid. Brake fluid spilled on the vehicle body will harm the paint surface; wash it off with water and wipe clean quickly if spilled.
  • Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>General Description>CAUTION
  1. Turn the Ignition Switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the ground cable from battery and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to NOTE>NOTE>BATTERY
    NOTE: For models other than STI model, disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor.
  3. Remove the collector cover. (Except for STI model) Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (EXCEPT FOR STI)>Collector Cover>REMOVAL
  4. Drain the brake fluid. Ref. to CLUTCH SYSTEM>Clutch Fluid 
  5. Remove the instrument panel lower cover. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Instrument Panel Lower Cover>REMOVAL
  6. Remove the knee airbag module. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>Knee Airbag Module>REMOVAL
  7. Remove the snap pin and clevis pin, and then separate the push rod of the master cylinder.

  8. Remove the intercooler. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (STI)>Intercooler>REMOVAL Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (EXCEPT FOR STI)>Intercooler>REMOVAL
  9. Disconnect the clutch pipe and reservoir hose.

  10. Remove the clutch hose bracket from the bulkhead.
  11. Remove the master cylinder.
