Check Hood Switch

  1. CHECK DATA MONITOR  .

    Display the data of [Hood Switch Close-side] and [Hood Switch Open-side] using Subaru Select Monitor. Refer to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .

    Does the display switch between [OFF] ←→ [ON] when the front hood is opened/closed?

    Yes:  The hood switch is OK.

    No:  Go to  2.

  2. CHECK HARNESS  .
    1. Disconnect the connector of body integrated unit.
    2. Disconnect the connector of hood switch.
    3. Measure the resistance of harness between body integrated unit and hood switch.

      Connector & terminal 

      (B281) No. 3 - (B329) No. 1:

      (i81) No. 7 - (B329) No. 3:

    Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?

    Yes:  Go to  3.

    No:  Repair or replace the harness.

  3. CHECK HARNESS  .

    Measure the resistance between the hood switch and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal 

    (B329) No. 2 - Chassis ground (-):

    Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?

    Yes:  Go to  4.

    No:  Repair or replace the harness.

  4. CHECK HOOD SWITCH (CLOSE SIDE)  .

    Measure the resistance between hood switch terminals.

    Terminal 

    No. 1 - No. 2

    Is the resistance less than 1 Ω when the front hood is closed?

    Yes:  Go to  5.

    No:  Replace the lock assembly front hood. Refer to SECURITY AND LOCKS>FRONT HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY .

  5. CHECK HOOD SWITCH (OPEN SIDE)  .

    Measure the resistance between hood switch terminals.

    Terminal 

    No. 3 - No. 2

    Is the resistance less than 1 Ω when the front hood is closed?

    Yes:  Replace the body integrated unit. Refer to SECURITY AND LOCKS>BODY INTEGRATED UNIT .

    No:  Replace the lock assembly front hood. Refer to SECURITY AND LOCKS>FRONT HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY .
