Master Cylinder: Removal

CAUTION:
  • Be careful not to spill the brake fluid. Brake fluid spilled on the vehicle body will harm the paint surface; wash it off with water and wipe clean quickly if spilled.
  • Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the ground cable from battery and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Refer to NOTE>NOTE>BATTERY .
    NOTE: For models other than STI model, disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor.
  3. Remove the collector cover. (Except for STI model) Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (EXCEPT FOR STI)>COLLECTOR COVER>REMOVAL .
  4. Drain the brake fluid. Refer to CLUTCH SYSTEM>CLUTCH FLUID .
  5. Remove the instrument panel lower cover. Refer to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER COVER>REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the knee airbag module. Refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>KNEE AIRBAG MODULE>REMOVAL .
  7. Remove the snap pin and clevis pin, and then separate the push rod of the master cylinder.

  8. Remove the intercooler. Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (STI)>INTERCOOLER>REMOVAL . Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (EXCEPT FOR STI)>INTERCOOLER>REMOVAL .
  9. Disconnect the clutch pipe and reservoir hose.

  10. Remove the clutch hose bracket from the bulkhead.
  11. Remove the master cylinder.
