Ignition Key Lock: Replacement

CAUTION:
  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from the 12V engine restart battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
    NOTE: For the hybrid model, disconnect the battery negative terminal.
  2. Remove the cover assembly - instrument panel LWR driver. Refer to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER COVER>REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the knee airbag module. Refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>KNEE AIRBAG MODULE>REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the column assembly - steering. Refer to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>STEERING COLUMN>REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the ignition key lock.
    1. Secure the column assembly - steering in a vise.
    2. Use the reverse tap and drill to remove the set bolt and remove the ignition key lock.

  6. Install the ignition key lock.
    1. Secure the ignition key lock to the column assembly - steering.
      CAUTION: When installing the ignition key lock, confirm that the fitting portion of the ignition key lock is properly engaged with the opening portion of the column shaft.

    2. Use new set bolts. Tighten the bolt until the bolt head is broken (bolt head wrenched off).
  7. Install the column assembly - steering. Refer to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>STEERING COLUMN>INSTALLATION .
  8. Install the knee airbag module. Refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>KNEE AIRBAG MODULE>INSTALLATION .
  9. Install the cover assembly - instrument panel LWR driver.
  10. Connect the ground terminal to 12V engine restart battery sensor. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
    NOTE: For the hybrid model, connect the battery negative terminal.
