Engine Coolant: Inspection
CAUTION:
- The engine coolant is pressurized when it is hot. Wait until engine coolant cools down before proceeding the work.
- If the engine coolant is spilt over the engine, exhaust pipe or the under cover, completely wipe it off to avoid emission of smoke or causing a fire.
Engine coolant:
Refer to RECOMMENDED MATERIALS>GREASE>ENGINE COOLANT .
Engine coolant concentration:
Refer to COOLING (H4DO)>ENGINE COOLANT>ADJUSTMENT .
NOTE:
The SUBARU Super Coolant contains anti-freeze and anti-rust agents, and is especially made for Subaru engines with an aluminum cylinder block. Be sure to use SUBARU Super Coolant, since other coolant may cause corrosion.
- Park the vehicle on a level surface.
- Check the engine coolant amount, and add the engine coolant if the coolant level is low.NOTE: If it is necessary to add the coolant, make sure that there are no engine coolant leaks.
- Make sure the engine coolant level in the reservoir tank is between "FULL" and "LOW" with the engine in a cold condition.
- Open the radiator cap and make sure that the radiator is filled with the engine coolant up to its filler neck position.
