Check Hood Switch
- CHECK DATA MONITOR

Display the [Hood Switch Close-side] data using Subaru Select Monitor. Refer to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
Does the display switch between [OFF] ↔ [ON] when the front hood is opened ↔ closed?
Yes : The hood switch is OK.
No : Go to 2.
- CHECK DATA MONITOR

Display the [Hood Switch Open-side] data using Subaru Select Monitor. Refer to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
Does the display switch between [ON] ↔ [OFF] when the front hood is opened ↔ closed?
Yes : The hood switch is OK.
No : Go to 3.
- CHECK HARNESS
.
- Disconnect the connector of body integrated unit.
- Disconnect the connector of hood switch.
- Measure the resistance of harness between body integrated unit and hood switch.

(B73) No. 3 - (B103) No. 1:
(B73) No. 4 - (B103) No. 3:
Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?
Yes : Go to 4.
No : Repair or replace the harness.
- CHECK HARNESS
.
Measure the resistance between the hood switch and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(B103) No. 2 - Chassis ground (-):
Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?
Yes : Go to 5.
No : Repair or replace the harness.
- CHECK HOOD SWITCH (OPEN SIDE)
.
Measure the resistance between hood switch terminals.
Terminals
No. 3 - No. 2
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω when the front hood is closed?
Yes : Replace the lock assembly front hood. Refer to SECURITY AND LOCKS>Front Hood Lock Assembly .
No : Replace the body integrated unit. Refer to BODY CONTROL/COMMUNICATION SYSTEM>BODY INTEGRATED UNIT .
- CHECK HOOD SWITCH (CLOSE SIDE)
.
Measure the resistance between hood switch terminals.
Terminals
No. 1 - No. 2
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω when the front hood is closed?
Yes : Replace the body integrated unit. Refer to BODY CONTROL/COMMUNICATION SYSTEM>BODY INTEGRATED UNIT .
No : Replace the lock assembly front hood. Refer to SECURITY AND LOCKS>Front Hood Lock Assembly .
