Section 4 (Engine Starting System & Charging System (2.4L)): Starter: Removal

CAUTION:
- When replacing the starter, be sure to perform [Start count clearing] after the service. Refer to AUTO START STOP (DIAGNOSTICS)>Work Support .
- When replacing the starter, be sure to replace the fuel pump relay at the same time. Refer to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DOTC)>Fuel Pump Relay .
- When replacing the starter, be sure to replace the ICR relay at the same time. Refer to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DOTC)>Inrush Current Reduction Relay .
- Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Remove the intercooler. Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DOTC)>Intercooler>REMOVAL .
- Remove the center exhaust pipe (rear). Refer to EXHAUST (H4DOTC)>Center Exhaust Pipe>REMOVAL>CENTER EXHAUST PIPE (REAR) .
- Remove the bolts securing the CVTF cooler pipe. (Model with CVTF cooler (air cool))
- Remove the nut at the bottom of the starter.
- Disconnect the ground terminal (A), terminal (B) and connector (C).CAUTION: In order to prevent damaging the ground terminal, fix the ground terminal when loosing the bolt, and avoid the part from rotating together while loosening the bolt.
- Remove the starter.
NOTE:
Remove from the upper side of the vehicle.
