Section 20 (Engine Cooling System (HEV)): Radiator: Installation

  1. Install the radiator lower cushion.
  2. Install the radiator side gasket (A) and radiator lower gasket (B) to the radiator.

  3. Connect the radiator outlet hose (A), inverter radiator outlet hose (B) and radiator inlet hose (C) to the radiator.

  4. Install the radiator fan & fan motor assembly to the radiator. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO(HEV))>RADIATOR FAN AND FAN MOTOR ASSEMBLY>INSTALLATION .
  5. Install the condenser assembly to the radiator. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>CONDENSER>INSTALLATION>EXTERIOR CONDENSER .
  6. Remove the clamp from the radiator fan shroud.
    NOTE: This procedure is performed to ensure the clearance at the time of installing the radiator.

  7. Install the radiator, radiator fan & fan motor assembly, and the condenser assembly as an assembly.
  8. Install the clamp to the radiator fan shroud.

  9. Remove the ropes or other items used to secure the CVTF cooler (air cool) to the vehicle.

  10. Install the CVTF cooler (air cool). Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TH2A)>CVTF COOLER (AIR COOLING)>INSTALLATION .
  11. Connect the pipe - evaporator cooling to the LOW solenoid valve. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>HOSE AND PIPE>INSTALLATION>COOLING PIPE .
  12. Connect the connectors to the LOW solenoid valve.
  13. Connect the expansion valve - heater assembly to the condenser assembly. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>EXPANSION VALVE>INSTALLATION>HEATER VALVE .
  14. Install the radiator upper cushion to the pin at the upper part of the radiator.
  15. Set the radiator upper frame together with the A/C accumulator assembly, and install the upper side bolts securing the radiator upper frame.
    NOTE: Securely install the radiator upper cushion to the radiator upper frame.

    Tightening torque: 

    18 N.m (1.8 kgf-m, 13.3 ft-lb)

  16. Connect the hose - pressure suction COMPL to the pipe - return assembly. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>HOSE AND PIPE>INSTALLATION>RETURN HOSE .
  17. Connect the hose - pressure suction to the A/C accumulator assembly. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>HOSE AND PIPE>INSTALLATION>LOW-PRESSURE HOSE .
  18. Connect the radiator inlet hose (A) and over flow hose (B).

  19. Connect the connector to the horn and install the clip.

  20. Install the front hood lock assembly. Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>FRONT HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY>INSTALLATION .
  21. Install the bracket - bumper UPR.

    Tightening torque: 

    7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)

  22. Install the front bumper. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>FRONT BUMPER>INSTALLATION .
  23. Install the reservoir tank. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO(HEV))>RESERVOIR TANK>INSTALLATION .
  24. Connect the hose - pressure suction valve to the hose - pressure suction COMPL. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>HOSE AND PIPE>INSTALLATION>LOW PRESSURE VALVE HOSE .
  25. Connect the radiator outlet hose to the thermostat cover and connect the inverter radiator inlet hose to the radiator.
  26. Connect the main fan motor connector, sub fan motor connector and hood switch connector.
  27. Install the lower side bolts securing the radiator upper frame.

    Tightening torque: 

    18 N.m (1.8 kgf-m, 13.3 ft-lb)

  28. Install the front exhaust pipe. Ref. to EXHAUST (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>FRONT EXHAUST PIPE>INSTALLATION .
  29. Install the inverter tank. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO(HEV))>INVERTER TANK>INSTALLATION .
  30. Install the collector cover. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>COLLECTOR COVER>INSTALLATION .
  31. Connect the battery ground terminal. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  32. Fill engine coolant. (Inverter assembly side) Ref. to COOLING (H4DO(HEV))>ENGINE COOLANT>REPLACEMENT>FILLING OF ENGINE COOLANT>INVERTER ASSEMBLY SIDE .
  33. Fill engine coolant. (Engine side) Ref. to COOLING (H4DO(HEV))>ENGINE COOLANT>REPLACEMENT>FILLING OF ENGINE COOLANT>ENGINE SIDE .
