Sunroof Assembly: Removal

CAUTION:

Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to  AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION 

  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY
  2. Remove the lid assembly. Ref. to SUNROOF/T-TOP/CONVERTIBLE TOP (SUNROOF)>GLASS LID>REMOVAL 
  3. Remove the trim panel roof assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>ROOF TRIM>REMOVAL
  4. Remove the bolt securing the curtain airbag module.
    CAUTION:
    • Do not remove the clips securing the curtain airbag module. If any of the clips are removed, the curtain airbag module may not deploy properly in collision. If the clip is removed, replace the curtain airbag module assembly. 
    • Be careful not to damage the curtain airbag module during removal.

  5. Disconnect the connector of the motor assembly.
  6. Disconnect the tube drain.
    NOTE:

    When removing the drain tube completely, perform the step   8 .

  7. Remove the rail assembly.
    1. Remove the bolts, then remove the rail assembly.

    2. Remove the bracket sunroof bolts on the right and left sides.

  8. Remove the tube drain.
    NOTE:
    • Perform this procedure only when required. 
    • For easy replacement work, attach a string when pulling the drain tube. 
    1. Turn over the insulator toe board and remove the tube drain front.
    2. Remove the mat trunk and the trunk trim panel side. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>TRUNK ROOM TRIM>REMOVAL
    3. Remove the tube drain rear.
