Radar Axis Adjustment
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Subaru WRX. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
- Perform the radar axis adjustment without passengers.
- The procedure for the radar sensor LH (master) side is only shown here. However the procedure for the radar sensor RH (slave) can also be done in the same way as the radar sensor LH (master).
- Before adjustment, check the following items.
- The workplace is flat and level.
- The inflation pressure of tires is correct.
- The vehicle does not have load. (Except for the standard equipment tools and spare tire)
- Check the front and back surfaces around the radar sensor and the bumper face rear for any scratches or other type of deformation. Ref. to BLIND SPOT DETECTION/REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION
- Park the vehicle while securing approximately 5 m (16.41 ft) square area behind the vehicle.CAUTION:
- No metallic objects around the vehicle and on the floor in the area.
- Do not let in objects other than ST, persons and metallic objects inside the area.
- Perform the adjustment of radar axis.NOTE:
The following procedure explains the method of setting ST so that the distance between ST and radar sensor is 1, 500 mm (4.92 ft) and the angle of the radar is 50°.
- Install ST to the stand or tripod and adjust the height.
Preparation tool:
ST: RADAR REFLECTOR (87699AL00A)
Specification:
720±10 mm (28.39±0.39 in)
- Suspend the plumb bob with leveling line from the center of the front hole cap, and affix the packing tape, etc. and make a marking on the tape at the point where the plumb bob touches the ground. (Point A)
- Suspend the plumb bob with leveling line from the center of the rear hole cap, and affix the packing tape, etc. and make a marking on the tape at the point where the plumb bob touches the ground. (Point B)
- Use a string to draw an arc with the marked point A and point B as a pivot.
- Set up the ST at the cross point of the two arcs so that the center of the pyramid of the ST is oriented toward the radar sensor LH (master).
Preparation tool:
ST: RADAR REFLECTOR (87699AL00A)
- Using the Subaru Select Monitor, select [RADAR Alignment] in [Work Support] of [Blind Spot Detection/Rear Cross Traffic Alert (LH)] or [Blind Spot Detection/Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RH)]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>WORK SUPPORT>OPERATION
- Perform the operation according to the display screen.
- If the result is out of permissive range, it is assumed that the ST set position may be incorrect or the radar bracket or its installation location, etc. on the vehicle may be deformed. Check the ST set position, radar bracket, and installation location, etc., and perform the radar axis adjustment again.
- Install ST to the stand or tripod and adjust the height.
