Inhibitor Switch: Adjustment

  1. Release the shift lock and shift the select lever to the "N range". Ref. to CONTROL SYSTEMS>SELECT LEVER>REMOVAL .
  2. Disconnect the select lever rod. Ref. to CONTROL SYSTEMS>SELECT LEVER ROD>REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the nut, spring washer, and selector lever.

  4. Remove the bolts securing the inhibitor switch.

  5. Remove the seal material from the bolt holes of the transmission case.
  6. Move the inhibitor switch and align the neutral reference line (A) and the kerf (B).

  7. Install the bolts which hold the inhibitor switch.
    CAUTION:
    • Always use a new bolt.
    • Be careful not to rotate the inhibitor switch.

    Tightening torque: 

    13 N.m (1.3 kgf-m, 9.6 ft-lb)

  8. Install the selector lever, spring washer, and nut.

    Tightening torque: 

    16 N.m (1.6 kgf-m, 11.8 ft-lb)

  9. Connect the select lever rod. Ref. to CONTROL SYSTEMS>SELECT LEVER ROD>INSTALLATION .
  10. Check the inhibitor switch operation. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>INHIBITOR SWITCH>INSPECTION>CHECK OPERATION .
