Counter Gear: Disassembly
- Remove the front bearing.CAUTION: Check the direction of the parts before removing them.
- Remove the snap ring.
- Remove the front bearing using the ST1, ST2 and a press.

ST2: REMOVER (899864100)
- Remove the snap ring.
- Remove the drive gear.
- Remove the snap ring.
- Remove the drive gear using the ST1, ST2 and a press.

- Remove the snap ring.
- Remove the 4th gear.CAUTION: Check the direction of the parts before removing them.
- Remove the snap ring.
- Remove the 4th retaining ring washer and 4th inner race thrust washer.
- Remove the 4th gear bearing inner race using a flat tip screwdriver wrapped with protection tape.
- Remove the 4th gear and synchronizer ring No. 1.
- Remove the snap ring.
- Use the ST and a press to remove the clutch hub No. 2, 3rd gear, synchronizer ring set No. 3, and 3rd gear needle roller bearing as a unit.

ST1: 899714110 (REMOVER)
- Remove the synchronizer ring set No. 3.
- Apply transmission gear oil to the tapered cone portion of the 3rd gear and to the synchronizer ring set No. 3.
- Press the synchronizer ring set No. 3 against the 3rd gear with your hand and perform the following checks.
- Remove the synchronizer ring set No. 3 from the 3rd gear.
- Remove the hub sleeve No. 2 (A), and then remove the ball (B), synchromesh shifting key spring No. 1 (C), and synchromesh shifting key No. 1 (D).CAUTION:
- Use a cloth to keep the synchromesh shifting key No. 1, synchromesh shifting key spring No. 1, and ball from popping out.
- Be careful not to deform the synchromesh shifting key spring No. 1.
- Check the direction of the parts before removing them.
NOTE: Make sure not to change the assembly positions for the hub sleeve No. 2 and synchromesh shifting key No. 1. - Check the hub sleeve No. 2.
- Check the end of the spline gear of the hub sleeve No. 2.
If it is worn, replace the hub sleeve No. 2 with a new one.
- Install the hub sleeve No. 2 to the clutch hub No. 2, and check that the parts slide smoothly.
If they do not slide smoothly, replace the hub sleeve No. 2 and the clutch hub No. 2 with new ones.
- Check the end of the spline gear of the hub sleeve No. 2.
