Oil Temperature Sensor: Inspection

  1. Check that there is no deformation, cracks or other damages.
  2. Check the oil temperature sensor.
    1. Immerse the oil temperature sensor and a thermometer in water.
      CAUTION: Make sure that water does not get into the oil temperature sensor connector.
      CAUTION: If water gets into the connector, completely remove any water inside.

      (A) Thermometer
      (B) Oil temperature sensor
      (C) Hexagonal part height: To approx. 2/3
    2. Raise water temperature gradually, and check the resistance when the temperature is 20°C (68°F) and 80°C (176°F).
      NOTE:
      • During the test, agitate the water for even temperature distribution.
      • Take the resistance value only after it becomes steady.
      • After inspection, remove the water completely.
