Sunroof Assembly: Removal

CAUTION:
  • Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  • When removing the clip, use great care not to damage the roof trim.
  1. Remove the lid assembly. Ref. to SUNROOF/T-TOP/CONVERTIBLE TOP (SUNROOF)>GLASS LID>REMOVAL .
  2. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  3. Remove the trim panel sub assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>ROOF TRIM>REMOVAL .
  4. Disconnect the harness connector of the motor assembly.
  5. Remove the bolt securing the curtain airbag module.
    CAUTION:
    • Do not remove the clips securing the curtain airbag module. If any of the clips are removed, the curtain airbag module may not deploy properly in collision. If the clip is removed, replace it with a new part.
    • Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
    • Be careful not to damage the curtain airbag module during removal.

  6. Disconnect the tube drain.
    NOTE: When removing the drain tube completely, perform the step  8.

  7. Remove the rail assembly.
    1. Remove the bracket sunroof bolts on the right and left sides.

    2. Remove the bolts, release the clips, and then remove the brace COMPL center LWR.

    3. Remove the bolts, then remove the rail assembly.

  8. Remove the tube drain if necessary.
    NOTE: For easy replacement work, attach a string when pulling the drain tube.
    1. Remove the cover side sill front Ft and the cover side sill front Rr. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>LOWER INNER TRIM>REMOVAL .
    2. Turn over the insulator toe board and remove the tube drain front.
    3. Remove the mat trunk and the trunk trim panel side. (Sedan model) Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>TRUNK ROOM TRIM>REMOVAL .
    4. Remove the mat rear floor side and the spacer rear floor side. (OUTBACK model) Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>REAR QUARTER TRIM>REMOVAL>OUTBACK MODEL .
    5. Remove the tube drain rear.
