When Using Windshield Glass Knife

CAUTION:
  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  2. Remove the trim panel assembly A pillar. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>UPPER INNER TRIM>REMOVAL>A PILLAR TRIM .
  3. Remove the cowl panel assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>COWL PANEL>REMOVAL .
  4. Disconnect the wiper deicer connector. (Models with wiper deicer)
  5. Remove the cover assembly stereo camera and stereo camera. Ref. to EYESIGHT>STEREO CAMERA>REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the cover assembly wide angle mono camera and the wide angle mono camera. (Model with wide angle mono camera) Ref. to EYESIGHT>WIDE ANGLE MONO CAMERA>REMOVAL .
  7. Remove the mirror assembly inner rearview. Ref. to GLASS/WINDOWS/MIRRORS>REARVIEW MIRROR>REMOVAL .
  8. Remove the lens hood (stereo camera and the wide angle mono camera). Ref. to EYESIGHT>LENS HOOD>REMOVAL .
  9. Remove the molding windshield from the glass windshield, and attach protective tape on the body side of the circumference of the glass windshield.

  10. Remove the glass windshield.
    1. Apply sufficient amount of soapy water to the adhesive part and insert the windshield glass knife.
    2. While holding the edges of the knife and the glass windshield at a right angle, move the windshield glass knife parallel to the edge of the glass windshield, and cut the adhesive along the surface and the edge of the glass windshield.
      CAUTION:
      • Cutting of adhesive part should be started from an area with wider gap between the windshield glass and the body.
      • Never twist the windshield glass knife.

    3. Disconnect the locating pin windshield and remove the glass windshield.
    NOTE: The locating pin windshield is bonded to the corners of glass windshield. Use piano wire to disconnect the pins.

  11. Remove the locating pin windshield. (When reusing the glass)
    1. Attach tape to the locating pin windshield outer surface to identify the installation position.

    2. Using a scraper, etc., remove locating pin windshield (two places).
      NOTE: Do not remove the tape because it is used to refer to the installation position.
