Learning Procedure

Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform [Clear EPS Internal Value 1] of [Work Support]. Ref. to POWER STEERING (DIAGNOSTICS)>WORK SUPPORT .
NOTE: Step 1 is not required after replacing the steering gearbox with a new part.
Park the vehicle on a level surface.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Start the engine and wait for 4 seconds or more.
Position the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.
Set the electronic parking brake to ON.
Keep turning the steering wheel to an end (until the steering wheel does not turn any more) to the left (or to the right) for at least 2 seconds.
Turn the steering wheel further after turning it to an end, and keep it for 2 seconds.
Keep turning the steering wheel to an end to the opposite side of step 7 for at least 4 seconds.
Turn the steering wheel further after turning it to an end, and keep it for 2 seconds.
Position the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.
Turn the ignition switch to OFF, and wait for 10 seconds or more.

NOTE:

When DTC C254E is detected, the power steering warning light illuminates.
When the above-mentioned learning is finished, the power steering warning light goes off in step 11.
If the power steering warning light does not go off, perform the procedure from step 7 again.
If the learning does not complete even after the procedure is performed from step 7 again, perform the procedure from step 1.
