Engine Basic Inspection

Perform troubleshooting referring to the following points when no DTC is detected in ECM and no abnormality is found in VISUAL INSPECTION .

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES CHART

Step Action YES NO
1  Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?  Go to Step 2. Go to ENGINE AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK .
2  Check battery voltage 
Is it 11 V or more? 		 Go to Step 3. Charge or replace battery.
3  Can engine be cranked?  Go to Step 4. Go to CRANKING SYSTEM SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS .
4  Does engine start?  Go to Step 5. Go to Step 7.
5  Check idle speed 
  1. Check engine idle speed, see IDLE SPEED INSPECTION .

Is check result as specified? 		 Go to Step 6. Go to ENGINE SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS .
6  Check ignition system 
  1. Check ignition system. Refer to IGNITION SYSTEM CHECK

Is check result as specified? 		 Go to ENGINE SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS . Repair or replace defective parts.
7  Check immobilizer system for operation 
  1. Check immobilizer control system, see IMMOBILIZER CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK .

Is it in good condition? 		 Go to Step 8. Immobilizer control system malfunction.
8  Check fuel system 
  1. Check fuel system, see FUEL SYSTEM INSPECTION .

Is it in good condition? 		 Go to ENGINE SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS . Repair or replace defective parts.
