1st Generation RWD: Disconnect

  1. Open the front trunk.
  2. If the vehicle is charging, remove the charge cable.
  3. On the touchscreen, power off the climate control system, and wait at least 30 seconds for the climate control system to completely shut down.
  4. Make sure the vehicle is in Park.
  5. Fully lower all door windows to avoid glass shatter and door lockout conditions.
  6. Remove the particulate filter Filter - Particulate (Remove And Replace) .
  7. Remove the rivets (x3) that attach the cowl screen panel to the body.

  8. Gain access to the particulate filter housing.
    • LHD vehicles only:  Lift up the RH corner of the cowl screen panel.
      CAUTION: Take care not to damage component(s).

    • RHD vehicles only:  Remove the cowl screen panel Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove And Replace) .
  9. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the pollen filter front housing to the HVAC duct (torque 1.5 N.m). Release the tabs (x2) to remove the front housing.
    NOTE: RHD vehicles have a 1-piece pollen filter housing. Remove the nuts (x3), then remove the housing.

  10. Unlatch the driver's door and any door that might need to be opened during the service procedure.
  11. Turn off vehicle power from the touchscreen by touching Controls > E-brake & Power Off > Power off  .
  12. Disconnect the 12V battery ground connection (torque 5 N.m).

  13. Disconnect the first responder loop (X536). Do not cut the loop.
  14. Wait at least 2 minutes for all electrical circuits to fully discharge.
    WARNING: Before working on any high voltage components, perform the Electrical Isolation Procedure, refer to VEHICLE ELECTRICAL ISOLATION PROCEDURE . If servicing the pack contactors themselves, disconnect low voltage power and remove the HV pyro fuse/disconnect. See FUSE - PYROTECHNIC - HV BATTERY 1.0/1.5 - REMOVE AND INSTALL or FUSE - PYROTECHNIC - HV BATTERY 2.0 - REMOVE AND INSTALL . If servicing the HV pyro fuse/disconnect, be aware that high voltage will always be present at the fuse.
