Preliminary Checks
NOTE:
DO NOT
overfill transmission. If transmission is inadvertently overfilled, drain excess fluid. Use ATF DEXRON II.
- Perform following checks before starting test procedures. Check tire inflation. Check idle speed in Neutral. Idle speed should be 650 RPM.
- Park vehicle on level surface and set parking brake. With engine idling, place shift lever into each shift position from "P" to "L" range. Pull dipstick and check fluid level. Check condition of fluid. If fluid smells burnt or is black in color, drain and replace fluid.
- Inspect and adjust throttle cable. Adjust shift linkage. Inspect and adjust neutral start switch.
