Ignition Timing

NOTE: DO NOT allow tachometer terminal to become grounded. This can damage igniter and/or coil.
  1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Connect timing light to engine. Connect tachometer test lead to "IG (-)" terminal of engine check connector. See Fig 1 and Fig 2.
  2. Short terminals of engine check connector with jumper wire to fix idle speed and timing. See Fig 3 and Fig 4. Ensure transmission is in Neutral and idle speed is correct. Check/adjust base ignition timing. Remove jumper wire and check advance ignition timing.
